Yep me again..
And it`s that time again. Time to gear down for the bay.urrrgghh!!
 So as having a wee bit of time on my hands these days i thought that i would try to sum up the word... taper..although different words mean different things to different people... here goes..

 taper noun... thin. narrowing, making narrower.taper off diminish.
 sounds kinda final doesn`t it.
my version.
                          T - tolerance. all through your training and running around, your friends and family have had to be patient with you... your turn now. self patience can be difficult.... my  mom was screaming when i was born. she never really stopped from there.. i have learnd self patience.

                           A - Assiduous. Training with a goal in mind takes a lot out of you. Self disapline is a must. Try not to let it get to out of hand.
                           P - Prodigious. While running and training can seem somewhat normal to you, don`t forget to realize how much time and effort go into it.. time escapes you faster than you think.
                           E- Erroneous. No matter who i talk to, or try to do the right thing.My training program always turns out wrong...
                            R- Reclaim. This final week should be used to reclaim your life. It`s to late to go back now. All of the changes in the world will not make your race.relax , hang with family and friends and dont fret.

Well Dave, you are lucky -- you are only tapering for a week!  What ever happened to the three week taper???  Or has it realization just kicked in that you are tapering when you have actually been doing it for a couple of weeks already?  Anyhow, I've been tapering for months now, it seems.  Just not sure WHAT I am tapering for!   laugh

I must say though, I am impressed with your vocabulary!  Who would have thought that you knew all those big words?   wink

So here is my contribution to the TAPER word:

T - Testy -- everyone seems to get testy when they can't go out and run what distance they want to
A - Antsy - sort of the same as above.  There is a whole lot of testiness and antsiness going on so it is appropriate to have it listed twice like this
P - Paranoid - this is the time when you start to doubt yourself and think that your training was not good enough and you will never be able to achieve your goal.  P could also stand for Poorhouse (see "E" below)
E - Expensive - you should be ok on this - you only have a week.  I have known people to spend thousands of dollars on a three week taper
R - Relax - Stop thinking about the race and your training and just relax before you drive everyone nuts!!!  Just kidding.  As you said, you can't change anything now. 

Just don't eat the fig newtons!

I couldn`t taper for 3 weeks... i would wind up on America`s most wanted.
        I will try to stay out of the figs.. rolleyes
