As we have all read on the other thread, Dave's family suffered a terrible blow this past weekend with the death in a fire of one of their littlest members, Ava.  Unfortunately, we cannot do anything to help with this tragic loss other than support the family, and help in their attempt to settle into a new home and replace the material possessions they have lost.  In this vein, the Quinte FunRunners are turning our usual Saturday morning Fun Run into a FUND Run.  We will be collecting monetary donations to help Dave's niece get back on her feet.  This run will take place at the usual time - 9:00 a.m.  There will be cookies and hot chocolate after the run.  I know it is a busy time of year, but hopefully we can bet a bunch of runners out to support this worthwhile cause.  Any contribution would be appreciated!

If you can attend, could you plse post or let Cathy or Holly know at the store so that we have an approx number attending (to know how much food/drink we need).  That being said, if you find out at the last minute on Saturday that you can come but haven't told us, plse don't let that stop you from attending.  We are just trying to get an approximate number.

We are also planning on taking any donations at the trail run on Sunday a.m. (if it goes).

I'm still planning on attending.  I just have to see what my driveway is like.  It might take a bit of time to get shoveled out.  If it is terrible and I can't get there in time, I will post.

I have been asked by my family to drive to Mississauga to retrieve our grand niece Danielle. Seems the little one wanted to get away to visit relatives. She was wrong. Being 9 yrs old and caught up in the middle of all of this has been too much. Caught in an adult world is hard on her. So i will be back later this morning but will have to miss the run. ..sorry too miss it.. but when i offered to do what i could for them , i really meant it.
          so off i go.
will see you in the woods tomorrow at 9am . suppose to be a snowy day in the woods. definitely will not miss it... Thanks, Dave.

I'll be there with cookies and hot chocolate.  Just have to get out of my driveway as well.  Whoever can make it, that's great.

Dave, we totally understand.  Look after your grand niece!

The turnout wasn't huge but we still had a great time and did well on donations!  The cookies were yummy and so was the hot chocolate!  The company was the best!!!

It was quite chilly when we first started out running but we warmed up quickly and it ended up being quite enjoyable (at least for me!  laugh).

Diane, look after your ankle!  I hope it doesn't give you too much trouble!

Sorry you could not attend Dave but we do understand.  Family comes first.  Hope you have a safe drive.

It was a good run Jane.  Thanks to all who attended and I do hope your ankle is OK Diane.
The donations went well the cookies were just too good.  Company was fabulous.

It is so hard to know what to do in circumstances like this.  Unfortunately all we can do is help her with replacing her material things.  I am sure if we could take up a collection to buy a miracle to bring back Ava, we all would give generously!  I hope that your niece will take strength from the knowledge that people who haven't even met her are thinking about her and feeling for her in this terrible tragedy.  It is going to be a long road for her.  I have never experienced this type of loss, and hope I don't, but I imagine it is one that you never fully recover from.

It hasn't been posted on yet, but Tri & Run is taking donations at the store up until Christmas.

We did send out an email to everyone but yes we are taking donations at the store for sure.  Hope that this reaches a few that may not be on our email list.

Thanks Jane for posting that.
