Just wanted to give a little shout out to anyone who trains in the Carman Rd/Wooler area that there has been some resent bear sightings. It looks weird seeing my neighbour's walk their dog while carrying a baseball bat but.....

Might be the bear that hangs out in my neck of the woods.  Not that far from you April.  We actually have seen it in the next door neighbour's driveway a couple of years ago.  Don't know that I can run with a baseball bat but will certainly watch.

Funny you should post this.  I was actually just thinking yesterday when I was out for my run what I would do if I ran into one one morning.

Last year around this time we saw a bear cross our road and run through all our neighbour's back yards with swing sets, trikes, and little kids toys. Kinda scary if they had been outside playing.

I'm with you on the running with a bat. Maybe have to do some research on what to do if you encounter a bear.

Just run with a partner.  We all know that you can't out-run a bear...you just have to out-run your partner.

I am terrified of encountering a bear while running.  Once I asked a friend (who is an avid hunter/outdoorsmen  etc.) if there is such thing as bear repellant.  He answered, "yeah, it's called a 12 gauge shotgun".

You think running with a bat would be tough...
