Our door at work hasn?t been closing properly.  No big deal really in the grand scope of world issues but annoying none the less.  The fact that it wouldn?t open or close without effort didn?t stop us from performing our daily tasks, it was just distracting enough to be disruptive.  After months of attempts to fix it by ourselves and then by various professionals we had all but given up, posting signs declaring not only our state of disrepair but acknowledging that it might be permanent.  Then ?he? came in.  His specialty was doors and frames, and in less than a moment had diagnosed the problem then fixed it.
Are you looking for a running injury saviour?  Something to fix that little niggly or long time injury that you have waited out, stretched out and given in to?  Sometimes it just takes a different perspective.  The Dialed in Motion system available only at Tri & Run Sports is a motion stop video system that takes frame by frame pictures of your running gait.  The system is designed to evaluate each part of your foot strike to determine points of contact, levels of pronation, angles of knee bend, excessive vertical motion and evidence of lack of muscle involvement.
Like theories on global warming there are just as many scientific opinions on the validity of mid-foot landing versus heel striking.  What is certain is that regardless of where you strike when you land, if you are injured what you are doing is not working and needs to be changed.  Stop motion can help determine what might be causing perpetual injuries and lead you towards the proper treatment.  For instance if you are a heel striker, chances are you run with an elongated stride, striking the ground in front of your center of gravity, at best causing you to slow down, at worst causing you to run through your entire foot surface with increased ground reaction forces.  Runners with this foot strike pattern typically run vertically, sending a lot of energy up rather than forward.  Potential injuries are heel pain, calf pain, and plantar fasciitis to name a few.  Initial treatment is gait retraining to increase a runner?s turnover.  When pain free the Dialed in Motion system is beneficial in establishing a base line gait in case of future injury and it can help assess gait in different shoes to help determine your perfect biomechanical fit.
