I have used my Nike+ Sensor for my iPod for years, for walking. I love it. It works with both my iPod Nano and iPod Touch - I recently changed shoes and am missing my sensor to tell me my time, distance, calories, etc etc.

Does anyone have a gadget they just LOVE that is compatible with a computer to upload their runs/walks? Keep track of them. I love stats. Or should I just pop out the insert in my new shoes and cut a hole for my Sensor (about 1.5 inches by 1 inch in the arch area) and carry on with what I know?

I don't know too much about it but I have an app for my iPhone that would works like a GPS.  You could download it for your touch (it's a free one) and see if you like it.  It's called GPS lite.

The least expensive way to go and to keep the gadget you know and love is to purchase I pocket for your shoe that takes the sensor.  We sell them in the store.

Rachel I downloaded the GPS lite and will try it out, thanks.  Don't you love all the apps!

Sandy, I may come over and get one, though I read on another site that if it's not in your shoe (getting repeatedly pounced on) it won't work... do you know anyone who does this and it works fine? thanks!! I know I have put it in my pocket and it shuts off within a minute or two, but maybe being attached to my shoe in one of those pockets would work better, getting a bit more movement- might work..I am willing to try it.

Mike I'd heard of Garmin, have the GPS for the car... so I looked up the one you like and I was drooling at all the functions, it might have to be a gift to myself soon... let me think of a reason I deserve a gift...... lol

I am enjoying my Garmin Forerunner 405 (for the most part ...).  STILL learning how to use it after a couple of months and haven't even begun to test all of its functions.

I understand that Garmin is releasing some new products later this year or early next year that are more wallet friendly.

As far as an excuse to gift ... I took the plunge and considered it motivation!

Happy running!

Kate, they aren't cheap are they.. but I do love good gadgets - and the Garmin seem to have all the bells and whistles I am looking for - motivation is the perfect excuse. Will see if I can find out when they are releasing the new products that are a bit more wallet friendly. I liked the look of the Forerunner 110, but I know like shoes you can`t go on the fondness of the appearance... wink

Thanks for sharing,

Two Words

Ranger Beads,

Cheap
Easy to use
Accurate for a run, jog, walk, trail, (once you have your stride/distance/count worked out)
never run out of battery
Environmentally friendly
Can be very Pretty when homemade with nice beads, so you can have a variety to much different attire.

Just thought I'd add my two cents since I'm a Low Tech sort of Guy. :)

Peace

Sandy I popped into the store and it seems you are out of the "pockets" - the girls are going to order some to have in stock.

I got jiggy and made a quick one to test it out, the sensor won't stay on, seems for me anyway, it needs to be inside the shoe to record the pace etc. bummer.

Well the pocket is designed for the piece and we know a number of runners that have used it successfully.  When it comes in, take a look.

I keep looking up the Garmin's now! I think I am obsessed or cursed lol One I like I see isn't available until June 21, lovely shade of pink and grey, just perfect for me. The Forerunner 110. But I will research a little more before jumping in. I hate to get something then think why didn't I get the next one up...

I have a very small wrist, (5 1/2 inches) so watches etc are tricky for me.

The 110's will be on the low tech end of Garmins.  Only readouts on your watch but you can upload info to your computer to view it.  It will also look like a regular watch.  If you were going to go with a traditional Garmin, look at the 205(no HRM)/305(HRM) for lower cost but the 310XT for "does the most, easy to use and great battery life".  Timex will have a one piece GPS available in the fall but price will be about the same as Garmin.
