Can anybody tell me (remind me ...) what the muscle at the very top of the back of your leg just under your bottom is called?  Starts with a "p".

It would sound MUCH better than walking around saying my a$$ hurts!

Thanks.

Sandy ... you're going to love this.   shocked   But I googled the image and read up on the muscle a little bit and this might also explain the numbness and tingling issues I have been having with my feet.

Thanks, Mike, but I googled the muscle and found some stretches that I think I'll try first!

The muscle is the piriformis and if it is tight it can definitely put pressure on the sciatic nerve and cause numbness/tingling into the leg, calf, or foot.
Good luck with the stretching.

If that doesn't work, massage can work wonders.  It took me about .02 seconds to get over the idea of a stranger touching me there.  WOW!  Does that hurt, but it was nice to be able to sleep again.

Thanks Bryan.

Holly confirmed a couple of stretches for me at boot camp last night and also suggested some rolling on my Grid.  I am always very bad about stretching at all, so I think it is something I need to start paying closer attention to.

I'll see how it goes.

Happy running!   smiley

This would also be irritated if your pelvis was out.

Sandy you are right..
If the pelvis is out it can cause the piriformis to spasm in effort to compensate.
