Have you ever thought about doing a Triathlon or Duathlon but couldn?t decide on one to do? Sunday July 11 the second edition of the Quinte Triathlon and Duathlon will be held in Batawa. With three races to choose from you can try the sprint triathlon which consists of a 750m swim in the Trent River, 20k bike from Batawa up Stockdale Road and back and finishing with a 5k flat run around the hamlet of Batawa. The sprint Duathlon replaces the opening swim with a 2k run and the Olympic distance triathlon begins with a 1500m swim, then a 40k bike and finishes with a 10k run.
The swim will be a counter clockwise out and back in the Trent River. The water is clear, clean and warm. The bike route....is challenging. With a significant hill in the first kilometre then onto Stockdale Road North which is rolling for about 5k then flattens out. The run course is flat (really) and a 2.5k loop so yes if you are doing the Olympic it is 4 times around. The great thing about that is you'll be very familiar with the route by your fourth lap AND your spectators can see and encourage you numerous times!
After completing the race you will receive a tri towel, will be treated to a free massage, and treats by Taste of Country. For more information visit
