Sorry Nancy but we don't hold spaces.  Info can be found here: http://fatasstrailrun.com/ and you can register here: http://www.eventsonline.ca/events/fatass_on/ if you want to register before you can make it into the store.

Frankford?   shocked

Actually Frankford isn't that far from Batawa.  And if you are doing the part north of Perry Drive, it is quite close.  Civilization is pretty easy to find.  It's only a kilometer or two.

I'm biting the bullet this year and going longer ... the thought of getting lost absolutely terrifies me.  Almost worse than swimming in an open lake.   tongue

Are you going to do the 17.5K?  There may be some people doing it who know where they are going that would run with you - you never know.

If you have a garmin, you could probably use it to find your start and find your way out if you got lost.

And don't worry Kate, we ARE the home of 424 Sqn - Search & Rescue!!  You wouldn't be lost for too long.   laugh  Sorry - I can only joke because I know my way around those woods after years of running in them.  If I can pick up my speed between now and then I could run with you, or you could slow down and wait for me.  Or you run ahead and I could yell out where to turn.   laugh laugh laugh

Kate, I signed up for the 17.5k last year never seeing the second half. I was also worried about getting lost but made it through without worries. As long as you keep your eyes open for the markers you shouldn't  get lost. I did see the guys a few times checking the trails and asked if I was still on the right track.lol
If I make it in to register before it fills I'm going for the 17.5k again. If you want someone to run it with, I'm available. I was last last year but it was the first time I'd run more than 8k on trails. I think it took me 2:20 something, mind you I spent some time chatting at the stations.

No worries about getting lost, we sweep the trails and never leave anyone behind...besides you can win a cool prize for being most lost!

Cool prize for most lost ... hummm ... free ride on a Search and Rescue chopper from 424 Squadron?   grin

Thank you Jane and April.  I AM running the 17.5K.  I am not sure about being able to speed up, but I would certainly be willing to slow down if it meant being able to run with somebody.  Nothing could be better than being lost save for being lost with somebody else!  Then we could ALL ride on the 424 Squadron chopper!

I am considering entering the fat ass run, but am unsure about running the entire 7.5k... I have just completed my first 5k race. The website mentioned walking and running. Are walkers welcome?

I'm sure they are, in all the Fat Ass races I've done there are people walking.
Though I wouldn't walk the 25km as Sandy and the Gang would like to get home sometime before dark. :)
Peace

Ha, ha...so true Peter!  Walkers are welcome in the 7.5k.  Keep in mind that 7.5 feels like 10k when done on the trails.

The race is not capped, it's just for the bags.
