I have more of a rant than anything...I have become increasingly frustrated because I had been doing so well with building up my running again after having a baby in January.....and THEN....the weather heated up!  I'm not sure if it's just me...but it seems like after I got pregnant and even after having Emma, my internal temperature is really out of whack....I can't handle the heat at all anymore!!!! :P
With the baby, early morning runs aren't usually possible, so I have to work it around going in the evening when my husband comes home.  Frustrating because I'm not finding things are cooling off that much lately.

GRRRR!!!!   angry  Anyway, I know things will change...I've resorted to doing treadmill runs the last couple of weeks...but I can't help but feel I'm losing all that I built up because it's just not the same

Okay...that's it!  No more ranting....it feels good to vent!!! :)  I don't post here often but I do enjoy checking in and seeing how everyone is doing!!!  cool

Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left.

No hot flashes yet, but my internal temp is out of whack at times too, I love the heat, but not for running. And I often find the AC too cold, no pleasing me lately!!

Your hormones could still be out of whack. Babies, especially girls, drain your body of all the good stuff. I had my son first, not so bad, but then when I had my daughter, hair loss, cavities, you name it I had it. It also has been very hot and humid over the past few weeks which drains energy from you. Just going in and out of air conditioned places will cause your body to work over time. I did a run yesterday that was a minute/km slower than my usual time? You don't sleep the same after having kids either, I don't anyway.
I think as long as you keep at it, you won't loose it. A good jogging stroller would be useful. My schedule changes in the summer because my kids aren't in school and it is harder to get out on the streets. This is my first summer that I'm keeping up with my running. I used to take the summers off ( only running on weekends and holidays) and I was still doing half marathons in the spring.
Keep at it, as long as you have the drive to do it, you will get it done. It will be frustrating until you find a schedule that fits your new lifestyle. And it will start to cool off soon... wink
Good luck

Go ahead and RANT! It's good therapy. Don't think of it as "resorting to the treadmill". It a great training tool. I had a long run planned for today but after playing in a ball hockey tournament all day yesterday, my 6 am run this morning with an aching body was not going to happen so back to bed I went. With a couple more hours sleep I fretted about now running in the heat and humidity or waiting till tonight to run or putting it off till Mon morn. I thought why not just get it done on the treadmill. A couple years ago I couldn't stand being on it for more that 20min but it's a great training tool. I put a movie on to keep me distracted and aimed the fan on me. No street lights, no traffic, nobody can see what I'm wearing and I didn't have to plan a route where I could duck into the bushes for a pee break.
Don't be discouraged! Time will pass quickly and soon your kids will be riding their bikes with you when you run....then running with you.  azn
