a question for the more experienced,been steadily running about a 4:50 per km for 24 km the last couple of weeks and much to my suprise i started looking at the BQ and it seems very close to my pace now ,i plan on running the county in October any thoughts??????? confused and maybe just need someone to slap me and wake me up  grin

Questions:  what are you confused about?  when you say first timer what are you referring to?  what do you plan on running in the county?

well i am reffering to being new to the running game ,but i have a bad habit of being to aggressive and tend to need someone to be the voice of reason,i am planning on doing the full marathon and not sure if a BQ would be something in my grasp, being the how this would be my second marathon at 42 yrs of age

Being that it will be your second marathon you should still approach it in a relaxed manner running it at whatever pace feels good on the day.  Pay attention to your nutrition and you may very well be successful in reaching your BQ.  If you don't, you will still be successful in that by staying relaxed you will enjoy the race and will be closer to your goal.  If you do then awesome!!!  We'll be there to meet you at the finish line either way!!

sunday long run 26 km in the groove nice and steady feeling comfortable just like you said then bang the tri bikes start going by ,obviously on a long ride yup there they go now the pace quickens by 30 some seconds for the last 5 km thank to Sandy and the rest for a great finish for me ,i hope your training is going well and good luck to all on your big day it was great to see everyone working so hard

You looked good and relaxed as we went by.  We were still early in our day and the wind hadn't hit yet but it was a great day.
