Well I made here, to Brockville that is. Checked in at registration but with no actual street number had some difficulty locating the registration building. Once there though I was greeted by friendly happy Volunteers. Picked up my race kit and went on my way. I am now at the hotel. Got hungry so went to get some food and brought it back to the hotel. As I was waiting for the elevator, the door opens and standing there is Greg. What a surprise someone I know. We talked some strategy etc and maybe we will scope out the race route later. Looking forward to racing tomorrow, rain or shine. You know what they say, if it ain't rain-in it ain't train-in!

Well it is 0524. Thought I could sleep in but that did not happen. They say you should keep your same routine and not change anything and "never try anything new" on the day. So my normal routine, coffee. So off I went to Tim Horton's. Got back to hotel and who did I see, 8 tiny reindeer and sleigh. No, it was Greg he to was going for coffee. Some habits never change. Now comes the panic of am I ready do I have everything I need? I did however forget my helmet. So I had to buy a new one, again. Next time I am wearing it to the event! Breakfast at 0700 and then off to transition. Have a wonderfull day.

To those about to race, I salute you!

Well the race is over! Greg did an awesome job! We ran together for the first 2.3km. I got out of transition first but it wasn't long before Greg flew by me on the bike course. After that the only time I seen him was at turn around points. On the bike I was cheering people on and I think most of them thought to themselves, what a nut job that guy is!Overall my thoughts. I completed the race. I asked myself this question many times, have I trained enough? Well I would have to say no! I also under estimated the race. I accomplished what I wanted and I guess that's the main point.  I will be ready for the next race!

Wendy I cannot even imagine the amount of training all of youmust have done for IMC. I only see the bike rides on Sunday but I can guess that that is not the only bike rides you must have to do plus the running and swimming. I could only hope to have such dedication. Good luck in BC.  Good luck to all going to IMC! Is this a race you all plan on doing again next year or will time tell?

Congratulations dave and greg on your first du's!!!!  No matter how much you train or talk about everything there is no better teacher then experience.  Doing the du probably taught you so much more then you ever imagined.  Good job!

Brockville was a great experience! and Dave it was awesome to be there with you. Being there with someone you know makes a difference and Dave sure helped me relax about it and fight the nerves a bit.
All in all, it was a lot of fun!
I definitely learned lots, especially about transition, and will take this with me to Lakeside for the MSC event on Sept 19th!!

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement!!

Greg,

Good luck at your next race. I know you will do well.  Just a note a seen a person wearing their gloves on the first run. I gyess this may save some time in transition. Not sure how comfortable they would be but couldn't be any different than wearing them on the bike.
