What an amazing feat to accomplish!  My eyes were welling up this morning thinking about how inspiring all of you athletes are!  It makes me believe that anything is possible, with the right amount of passion and dedication to your sport.

Congrats everyone!  I've been bragging about you all at work this morning!!!

Cheers,

Hey Guys, have to say I'm a bit pissed that you have all that warm weather and it was a little chilly here yesterday.  Swim was awesome.  Myself, Wendy and Janet were in the last 10 people to leave the beach and still ended up swimming 1:29, 1:32 and 1:46 respectively.  Water was 66 degrees which was warmer then the air so was quite pleasent.

Transition was efficient and fun chatting with volunteers while we waited for Wendy...it's amazing how unashamed you become when racing, almost like child birth!

The bike was a lot of fun for the first 60k, we were zooming along, sunny, warm, climbed Richter's and then hit the wall of wind for 120k!!!  With race wheels on going down the back of Richter's the cross winds pushed you around enough that it was a constant wobble. I think at one point I actually got lift of my front tire.  Needless to say I will need new brake pads and I do believe that my sphincter muscles worked the hardest the whole day!!!!!  Sorry for the graphic.  Anyway, wind, rain, and the odd-odd person made for a slightly annoying ride.

Finally into my running shoes...YEAH...finally my happy place!  I would happily have run the whole 16 hours if they let me.  The run is awesome, pretty and relatively easy.  Janet was hoping for a 6+ marathon, not sure what Wendy was hoping for but we ran about 5:45 and it felt great.

Wendy and Janet were powerhouses the entire day in spite of a few moments of doubt they were strong until the end and crossed the finishline running and smiling.

What an honour and privilege to have spent the entire day with two inspiring, focused athletes and to experience their first Ironman race with them.

Peter to answer your questions:

No and no.

caveat: Duane signed up for next year but he didn't race this year.

Ironman.com Faces Cyberattack

Posted: 30 Aug 2010 01:35 PM PDT

As many of you know, there was limited access available to ironman.com and ironmanLIVE.com on Sunday, Aug. 29. Both sites were the target of a cyberattack designed to deny users access to the website, which made it difficult for fans to follow the progress of participants at Ford Ironman Louisville and Subaru Ironman Canada.
