1,086 Lil feet could be heard, trying to stay warm and ready, in anticipation of the beginning of the 28th annual Peterborough half marathon and 5k events, with a air temp, of -13 and a 20 kl wind dropping it to -19, it was a bit cool, but with that sun shining so brilliantly, it was a perfect day for a run, and run we did !, the race started on time, and the mood of the crowd was pumped to say the least, as i looked around , you couldn't help but notice how happy people were to be at a race, even at cold temps, and strong winds, it takes a lot to diminish the integrity and dampen the spirit of a runner, and not to mention the volunteers, i bet they were colder than us!!!, i thanked them for their time as i ran by, without them, there would be no race ! The spectators were of the normal kind, happy people cheering us on, while children rolled around in the freshly fallen snow, it was a good community turn out, both participants and on lookers, you couldn't help but to smile and wave at them...Other than trying to create a new Pb for youself, or beat your buddy, these event hold a special thing, it gets everybody outside, away from TV`s, computers and such,, its good to see. There was your typical huge crowd at the finish line, cheering and screaming, you could hear it for a block away, i think it makes you give just a little more, providing you have anything left that is..i had a little but not much, but i did get my peanut, i wanted under 1:40, and i do believe i got it, think around 1:39, that makes me smile, but now i have to beat it...ughh!!, the food was good, bagels, veggie Chile, chocolate, and an apple...oh yeah, pizza to!!yummy!! well, thats about it, i truly applaud all the runners, it was a great turn out, 543 runners, pretty good for the middle of winter, i must say...going back next year for sure!!, thanks for taking the time to read me..and how was your day???..David Storey.  cool

Well David, it sounds like you had a wonderful day. Congratulations on your time and giving yourself another new challenge (time to beat next half).  The crowds  goteam1 sounded like they were having just as good a time as you runners were.  Glad your injury did not keep you from going.  And the food.......hmmmmm
theappleguyb that is always the best. I think that sometimes I pick the race with the best food when faced with a choice as to which one to attend.

Congrats again.  Great race report

Great race report Dave!!!  Glad that you did so well and I am assuming this was a PB??  And you told us that you don't run much quicker than us!  Yah, right!!  Thanks for including the food details.  That is a very important part of the race report!! (and the race).

It IS amazing that over 500 people would come out to run a half marathon in the middle of winter!  But what can you expect from Canadians, EH???
