Welcome to the start of
your training program with Tri & Run Sports and your coach
Sandy Musson. The entire staff at Tri & Run and Sandy are
here to help you move towards your goal in any way we can.
To help facilitate your progress please keep track of your
workouts and report any issues you are having whether they
are physical or scheduling. As your coach I am here to
inform, direct and encourage you. Please take advantage of
this.I would like
to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am
a Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped), an ACE Certified Personal
Trainer, an ACE Certified Lifestyle and Weight Management
Consultant, and have my level 1 Theory Coaching
Certification. I have training as a Myofacial Release and
Integration Technician, first aid, CPR, Business
Management, and over 300 continuing education hours in
topics such as gait, biomechanics, orthotics, posture and
run coaching.
In the last 10 years I
have coached numerous first time to experienced runners
and triathletes, and have seen all of them move forward
with their sports. Working with runners completing their
first 5k up to the marathon and triathletes from the
Try-a-Tri to the Ironman has been very rewarding as I get
to work with the individual through good times and bad,
determining what works best for them as an individual. I
have helped clients qualify for the Boston marathon as
well as for Ironman which has been just as rewarding as
guiding a newbie across the finish line of their first 5k.
As an athlete I began my
running career in 1995 deciding to run the marathon. After
a year of training I ran my first race ever, the Disney
Marathon in January of 1997 and have never looked back. I
have run more marathons then I can recall, my fastest ever
being the Scotiabank Marathon in September of 2003 where I
qualified for Boston in 3:45. During the years between ’97
and ’03 I began my love of trail running and ultras and
competed up to the 80k distance. I added triathlons to my
repertoire in 2000 competing in a few short distance
events. In 2002 I upped the anti and completed Muskoka,
the Peterborough half-ironman and then Ironman Canada that
August in 14:35:39 crossing the finish line with my
husband Jeff and my friend Keon Bernier. After completing
this challenge I decided to take on the 100 mile distance.
In 2004 I completed 65 miles of the Mohican in Ohio before
taking myself off the course. I ended up being the fastest
women over 50 miles. In 2005 I chose Sulpher Springs to
make my next attempt and completed 85 miles before taking
myself off the course again. In 2006 on the same course in
29:45 I finally completed the entire 100 mile distance.
My love of these sports
and what they can do for your physical body, your mind and
your spirit is what keeps me competing myself, and what
drives me to help others. My goal for you is to not only
reach your performance goal but to also realize what a
truly magnificent gift movement is, to teach you how to
make this a daily habit and your ultimate goal to keep
doing it as long as you possibly can by keeping you
healthy, injury free and loving your sport.
In closing I want to
thank you for the opportunity to work with you towards
your goals and applaud you for taking the first step.
Good luck and have fun!
