In 2006 I played hockey with an older lady (she was in her 50’s so that was old to me as I was in my 30’s) who was training for a marathon. I thought if she can do it, I can do it. Other running/hockey friends told me to go see Sandy in this little store north of Trenton. I was and still am in awe of her knowledge and admire her straight forward approach. 6 marathons, 6 ATB, 16 half’s, 11-10k, Run for the Toad, Fat Ass and Bad Ass runs, Spring Thaws, Canada Day and Fall Classics, early morning group runs even with a hang over, Stockdale Rd when it was so cold and windy I wore a ski mask to keep my eyes from freezing, Cookie du’s, learn to run and bike repair clinics.
FunRunners are like your cousins. Some you see regularly and others it’s a long time between visits but if any of them needed anything you would go out of your way to help. My runs are fewer now but the smiles will never fade when I think of all the joy I’ve got from running! So Sandy enjoy your retirement! You have created lasting memories and shared oodles of knowledge to so many so now we can pay it forward.
